Watt and Shead, Heads, 131, 150: Ralph (Radulf) was a prior, probably of Kinloss, when he succeeded Rayner, abbot of Kinloss, following the latter's election as abbot of Melrose on 23 March 1189. Ralph himself succeeded Rayner again, as abbot of Melrose, on 18 September 1194. He was made bishop of Down, Ireland, by a papal legate in 1202.
Fasti Ecclesiae Hibernicae, iii, 199: Radulf was bishop of Down from 1202, serving eleven years. His successor appears in 1213.
