- Watt, Graduates, 4: Alan occurs as master when witnessing acts of Duncan, earl of Carrick (1189×1250), but is not the same as Alan, son of the earl. He may be the same as Alan, the dean (of Carrick?). Either the master or the son of the earl may have been the same as Alan who was elected to see of Argyll in 1248×50.
