Description
David, king of Scots, has given his beloved mace-bearer (claviger) John de Burgh, the ferry passage across the Forth beside Stirling; holding by him and his heirs or assigns, providing a chaplain celebrating mass in the parish church of Stirling for the salvation of his soul and for those of his ancestors and successors the kings of Scotland; if the chaplain fails to celebrate mass every week, the ferry shall revert to the crown.
