Description
Gilbert of Cleish has given, with the assent of his heirs, to John of Pitliver his nepos, for his homage and service, fifteen acres of land in the territory of Cleish KNR, called 'Abraham's toft', with the remainder to the north and south of the this toft to make up the 15 acres, and an adjacent portion on the east, and common pasture for [...] cows and their offspring and for sixty sheep and for three pregnant swine with their offspring within the vill of Cleish and outwith; holding in feu and heritage, with liberties and easements pertaining within the vill of Cleish and outwith; rendering annually one pound of cumin at the Feast of the Apostles Peter and Paul (29 June), making forinsec service of the lord king as pertains to 15 acres of land, as long as he did not accompany Gilbert in the army. But if he does accompany him, he will be quit of forinsec service. When the common army is mustered, John must appear in person with his own horse, along with Gilbert and at Gilbert's expense.
