King David has granted to the canons of Dryburgh Abbey the land which Beatrice de Beauchamp bought from Roger the janitor and gave to them in perpetual alms; also the toft outside the west gate of Roxburgh which belonged to John the chaplain, as the charter of Earl Henry gives and confirms; he also grants land within the wall of that gate which Adam, the king's chaplain, has given; he grants leave for the canons to take whatever they need in the king's woods for their own use and buildings, and freedom from toll and secular exactions
