King John writes to the king of Scots, informing him that his messengers are to be retained whilst John holds a council of his bishops and barons on the feast of St Peter ad vincula, due to the death of H[ubert], archbishop of Canterbury. As he is awaiting a response, he sends R[oger], constable of Chester and his other faithful men to William so that William can deal with the relevant business. John is pleased by the exception regarding the land of Tynedale, as contained in William’s letters.
