Hugh Berkeley, justiciar of Lothian, to his esteemed and sworn man William of Badby, constable of Berwick: he commands and instruct him, in respect of the land of John Scott of Reston - which John brought before him as a pledge for the lord king, in return for two pairs of brieves of dissasine from the lord king - that he should without delay seize, by sale, £10 from the said land for the work-service of the chapel of Berwick Castle. If, however, the remainder should be above £20, he should cause it to be paid to the said John, unless the said John has paid off the said £10 to him.
