Gillescop Mackennedy, steward of Carrick, states that a controversy existed between him and the monks of Melrose concerning a certain parcel of land which is near the road which is called ‘euauchouegas’ (in Carrick, AYR) on the eastern part. Gillescop, for the salvation of his soul, gave, granted and quitclaimed the aforesaid land to Melrose Abbey and he renounced all rights which he had or was able to have in the same land.
