William of Lindsey, for the welfare of Margaret, countess of Buchan, his late spouse, and of Alicia of Lindsey, his first spouse, has given [granted] and by this his charter established to Deer Abbey 16s. annually from his barony in the villa of Berwick on Pentecost ‘ad pascendum’ the convent of Deer on two days per year, that is, on the anniversary of the said Countess of Buchan and on the anniversary of the said Alicia his first spouse, that is, on the morrow of feast of the Circumcision of the Lord, in free and pure alms in perpetuity.
