Patrick of Ryedale, at the petition of William of Ryedale, and at the petition of his wife, Isabella, has granted and made firm by this his charter to Melrose Abbey the donation of Isabella, wife of William of Ryedale, of that oxgang of land which William, her father, persona of Hownam, bought from Geoffrey the cook in the territory of Whitton (ROX) for the work of Isabella and which she made to the monks and church of Melrose by the bounds in the charter of Isabella.
